Since it’s introduction in 1995, VoIP has become more and more popular with businesses big and small due to its ability to decrease costs and provide more flexibility in comparison to landline phones.


VoIP calls are made over your Internet connection, and not phone lines. This means if your Internet goes off, your telephony is gone too. Businesses using VoIP therefore need a Plan B should the worse happen, and to ensure workers can seamlessly continue in what they where doing,. Is there a way to ensure that the calls continue to come in even if the internet goes down? Sometimes it can happen; too much bandwidth gets used or there are problems on the ISP end. Here are some ways around this to keep yourself online, when the internet goes off.


Backup Mobile Phones


Providers are able to offer redundancy plans should your connection go down. For example, your calls can be automatically forwarded in real time to selected mobile numbers, should your connection fails. If the incoming caller cannot connect, the call is automatically rerouted to another system specified by the user. This can be your own mobile phone number, or a designated backup mobile/s that is only ever used for this purpose in your office.


Backup Internet


If the option of having a backup ISP or internet connection is available to you. It may also be useful to take it just in case your primary connection ever goes down. You can still receive VoIP phone calls and your employees can still get another wifi/4G connection.
